Considered by Lasse Marhaug himself to be a perfect combination of music, art and design, Beauty Without Mercy was issued in 2009 as a promo only item for Utech Records’ fifth anniversary. It was the second, but not last time Utech Records would collaborate with illustrator Justin Bartlett. Based on a photo of Marhaug taken by Stephen O’Malley, Bartlett created this classic twin zombie piece for the cover. The 2021 reissue sees Marhaug remastering the audio as well as writing extensive liner notes. New art from Kevin Gan Yuen graces the back cover. Beauty Without Mercy is a key release in Utech Records’ back catalog and stands testament to the label’s expertise at fusing music and art.

Justin Bartlett is currently battling stage four cancer. This reissue is Utech Records’ way of honoring Bartlett and his work.

Utech Records will donate all profits from digital sales to Justin Bartlett’s GoFundMe for his treatment and recovery.
